Rapid-Fire Oral Presentation Guidelines for Best Student Poster Award Candidates

To showcase your research in a dynamic format, each finalist will deliver a 1-minute rapid-fire oral presentation prior to their assigned Poster Session A or B. Please follow the instructions below to ensure a smooth submission and presentation.

 

Presentation Format

  • Duration: Exactly 1 minute (strictly enforced). When time is up, the microphone will mute automatically.
  • Content: Highlight key points to spark interest in your poster.
  • Q&A: No Q&A will follow rapid-fire presentations.

 

Slide Submission Requirements

  • Submission Deadline: 15 August
  • File Format: .pptx (PowerPoint, 16:9 aspect ratio)
  • Filename Convention: Save your file as a compressed .rar archive named: P-X##_LastName.rar. Example: P-A04_Smith.rar
  • Slide and Size Limits:
    • Maximum of 3 slides
    • File size: ≤ 10 MB
  • Media Rules: Embedded video clips are allowed; pre-recorded audio (voiceovers, soundtracks) is prohibited.

  • Note: The uploaded file will be considered final and used directly for your presentation. Personal devices such as laptops will not be permitted during the rapid-fire session.

 

Tips for Success—for a Strong Rapid-Fire Talk

  • Capture attention: Lead with a striking insight or question.
  • Keep it clean: Use large visuals and avoid dense text.
  • Highlight your poster: Include a clear image of your poster and prominently display your poster number to guide attendees during the session.
  • Practice timing: Make sure your talk finishes exactly at 1 minute.
